Entscheidungsfindung im gestressten Hirn

Description

Conflict and violence may be investigated in relation to decision making: people may come up with inadequate decisions when under severe (social) stress, which might provoke social conflict or violent behaviour. In turn, strategies of conflict resolution and de-escalation include decision making.

The present project aims at the understanding of decision making processes, first in individuals, but with the ultimate goal also to understand decision making in groups or even societies. In a first step, the project will concentrate on decision making processes in indiciduals affected by high social stress load in their life history and in the context of experimentally manipulated social stress. Social stress or adverse traumatic experiences are assumed to modify the human brain, and thereby psychological functions like affect, stress sensitivity, reward processing, and decision making.
