In this paper we will present a new approach combining different visualizations into a so called SuperTable with a Scatterplot. The goal was to improve user experience during the information seeking process. Originally INSYDER was a system to supply small and medium size enterprises with business information from the Internet by using a local meta search engine. The new prototype will be much more flexible concerning the operational area as well as the used visualizations. Instead of offering multiple visualizations to choose from INSYDER combines them into one, reducing the confusion of different visualizations.

This paper presents a visual information seeking system for the Web called INSYDER. The aim of INSYDER is to find business information from the Web. Different visualizations supporting the reviewing of search result are shown. The main design ideas and results of an evaluation with 40 users are presented.

In this paper we present the conception and the evaluation of a visual information seeking system for the Web. Our work has been motivated by the lack of good user interfaces assisting the user in searching the Web. The selected visualisations and why they have been chosen are explained in detail. A focus of this paper is on the evaluation of these visualisations as an add-on to the traditional result list presentation.

This paper discusses the evaluation of a visual information seeking system for the Web called INSYDER. The aim of INSYDER is to find business information on the Web. The evaluation compares different visualizations including HTML-List, ResultTable, ScatterPlot, BarGraph and SegmentViews. These visualizations support the interpretation of the search result phase of the information seeking process. First results of the evaluation with forty users are presented and an outlook on future work is given.

This paper presents a visual information seeking system for the WWW called INSYDER. The aim of INSYDER is to find business information from the WWW. Information seeking - especially on the Web - is an imprecise process. Information seekers often have only a fuzzy understanding of how they can get and information they want. This paper focuses on the use of information retrieval and visualisation techniques of the INSYDER system to support the user in extracting information from the WWW, namely in formulating queries, refining and reviewing results.

The WWW is the most important resource for external business information. This paper presents a tool called INSYDER, an information assistant for finding and analysing business information from the WWW. INSYDER is a system using different agents for crawling the Web, evaluating and visualisation, and a first summary of user tests held in Great Britain, France and Italy are presented.

Nach einem funktionalen Überblick über das Gesamtsystem wird auf die Konzeption eingegangen. Aufbauend auf dem Rahmenkonzept von Shneiderman wird ein Multiagentensystem vorgeschlagen, das den Benutzer bei der Informationssuche unterstützen soll. Da der erfolgreiche Einsatz eines Business Intelligence Systems ganz wesentlich von der Art der Informationspräsentation bestimmt wird, beschäftigt sich ein wesentlicher Teil dieses Beitrags mit ausgewählten Ansätzen zur Visualisierung von Suchergebnissen, die innerhalb des Projektes verfolgt werden.

The idea of Information Visualization is to get insights into great amounts of abstract data. Especially document sets found by searching the World Wide Web are a special challenge. The paper gives a short overview on the variety of possible visualizations for this application area. Crucial factors for the success of visualizations are discussed. A combined approach is presented to use alternative simple visualizations, grouped around the traditional result-list, for usage with a local meta web search engine.
