Surface Electrons on Mesoscopic Structures


The main theme of the research will be strongly correlated systems on mesoscopic structured surfaces and the interplay between correlation and confinement. This will be complementary to other research which is going on in the field of semiconductor mesoscopic systems. The reserch objectives are divided into the following main areas:

1. Edge effects on the Wigner crystal

a) large systems

b) small systems

2. One-dimensional mesoscopic structures

3. Capillary Waves as a diagnostic tool

4. STM/AFM measurement of the electron position
