Specificity in Syntax
Description
The aim of the project is an innovative theory of syntactic structure building that rests upon the null hypothesis that specificity, which is a basic principle in morphological theory, drives syntactic operations, too. The basic idea is that when more than one constituent is a candidate for an agreement relationship or displacement operation, the operation will involve the more specific constituent. The main empirical domain are so-called locality effects.
